Do you know why Gyms earn a major chunk of their annual subscription revenue in the first few days of January?
Well we are 3 weeks down the year already. That leaves us with 50 more. (5.6% of the "new" year is already gone! Shocking, isn't it?)
Setting resolutions is easier than implementing them. And you know why? Because it makes us feel good to set them. Through my experience of exercising last year, I have learnt that making habits will not make me feel good. And it's fine. It takes effort.
Last week a friend of mine said and I quote the exact words, "This year, I am going for positive vibes. Anything that holds the power to destroy my inner peace and happiness, I am staying away. So, All I do is study now and mind my own business. That's my resolution." And that's powerful!
What are your resolutions? I would love to know them.
If it's waking up early, you have to set the right time to sleep and plan out something interesting to do in the morning. For me, it's conserving my energy and applying all of it to my growth. I have identified my weaknesses (pretty long list I must say:') ) and I am working on killing them. Easier said than done but I am committed to myself and my goals.
But having said that, resolutions are incomplete without effort.

The section where I write something poetic
(Before you ask, no I am not a good poet. I write them when there's no other way to express)
10 lines
Few years ago, I wrote 10 lines for myself. That was a time when I found myself very different and alone and I discovered my strength myself. I typed my poem, printed it and pasted it on the wall. Hope these lines inspire you to be confident in your uniqueness whoever you are and whatever you want for yourself. May you have the courage to be different.

Now you will ask: But Nish, where's the 'bookish' content in your newsletter!
Okay, I have a surprise for you all. I received so many good words that I just didn't limit myself to emails. Guess what, your boy has done something weird again. Before you guess, let me break to you a podcast for the same.
Tell me how is it?
The book I am going to talk about has excellent leadership lessons. And I enjoyed reading it.
It's called 'Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage'. Shackleton wanted to reach Antarctica and he published an ad on newspapers:
More on the podcast. This episode will be live tomorrow. Stay tuned:D
(This is dedicated to all those amazing people who motivated me and hyped me up for my voice. I hope you know how much it means to me. Thank you!)

If you truly loved someone, remember how much you encourage them, forgive them, act as their support, feel happy in their success and be there during hard times, never judge them nor compare them to others?
Be that person for yourself!
This year, fall in love with yourself:)
Begin with greeting yourself
"Happy New Year to me."
Take care and keep shining!

P.S:
OK before I let you go, I have a song to share Enjoy Enjaami (meaning 'Enjoy my dear').
Background: 'Enjoy Enjaami' emphasizes the importance of nature and clearly shows that humans are not the central character in the narrative, instead they exist alongside nature. And on the other hand, it talks about the struggles of people closest to nature and pays homage to the landless labourers. This song is a celebration that comes from understanding the oppression in society. The setting is for the Tamil farmers and if we go deeper, it's also related to Tamil migration to Ceylon and British rule. But it's still relevant to you and to me. The title means 'Enjoy my dear' and it's also about appreciating our life. Ok I said excess, sorry-_-
(Don't forget to turn on the subtitles, it's deep!)
You can, of course, always write to me by simply replying to this newsletter.
